What is intellectual property?

Intellectual property is a term used to describe creations of the mind including inventions, words, logos, symbols, aesthetic creations, artistic and literary works. Intellectual property rights is an umbrella term used to describe the legal instruments that are used to protect intellectual property. Intellectual property rights include patents, trade marks, designs and copyright to name just a few.
